I was born and brought up in a small village of West Bengal, India. I started my schooling from my village school. After completing my schooling, I joined the Behala College (University of Calcutta) for my bachelor’s degree with Chemistry Hons. I obtained my master’s degree in chemistry from the Ramkrishna Mission Residential College (Autonomous), Narendrapur, India, affiliated to the University of Calcutta. During my master’s medicinal Chemistry made me so fascinated that I decided to do research on this area. Hence, I moved to IISER Kolkata for my doctoral studies where I joined the small molecule therapeutics lab of Prof. Arindam Mukherjee, and started working on development of metal complexes as anticancer agents. Currently, I am working as a postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Gilles Gasser's lab on the development of ruthenium based photosensitisers for selective photodynamic therapy against cancer cells.
